Senior Counsel

María Paula Terrel specializes in corporate, banking and finance law. She regularly advises clients in their day-to-day operations and in the analysis, acquisition and development of projects and assets in Argentina, acting for both sellers and buyers, including the development and financing of projects, having developed extensive experience in the international aspects of all mining transactions. She has vast experience assisting clients in the set-up of companies in the country, and in the execution of shareholders agreements, exploration, option and operation agreements, among others. 

She has participated in international financing of projects for the exploitation of natural resources in Argentina, such as Barrick’s Veladero Project, and assisted several clients in cross-border financial deals of the mining sector, including equity financing and public takeovers. She has participated on several M&A transactions in the mining industry, advising companies such as Lithium S, Lithium Power, Argentex Mining Corp., Alexander Mining, Buntech and Li3 Energy Inc. in different M&A transactions and First Quantum Minerals Ltd., in its acquisition of the copper project “Taca-Taca”. She has also assisted Macquarie in the acquisition of Tristone Capital Global, a boutique Canadian investment bank operating in the energy sector, and Unilever on the acquisition, building and financing of its Argentine headquarters. Ms. Terrel has intervened on behalf of financial institutions which acted as sellers in most of the largest transfers of portfolios of non-performing loans in the Argentine market. 

María Laura Terrel is a senior counsel at Mitrani, Caballero & Ruiz Moreno. Before joining the firm in 2017, Ms. Terrell was a founding partner at HOLT Abogados, where she headed the corporate and finance practice (2008-2017), and a junior partner at Estudio Beccar Varela (2000-2008).
