• Due diligence for the acquisition by ABRAAJ (our client) of a % of the shares of South-Net Turismo S.A., a company incorporated in Argentina, which operates as a travel and tourism agency, but with a strong online platform base, via the acquisition of Best Day Travel Group, a Mexican holding company.
• Counsel to Brightstar in a due diligence for an investment in SEAC S.A. and Recaudación Gestión y Pagos S.A., which are dedicated to providing technological solutions, primarily in virtual cargo and payment management.

Antitrust
• Counsel to NII Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: NIHD) in the sale to Grupo Clarin of a 49% equity interest in Nextel Argentina with a call option to acquire the remaining 51% equity interest for total consideration of $178 million. Assisted NII in the sale of such remaining 51% equity interest as a result of the exercise of the aforementioned call option (Domestic M&A of the Year 2015 – Latin Finance Deal of the Year Awards).
• Counsel to Level 3 Communications in their day-to-day corporate business in Argentina.
• Counsel to Encompass Digital Media (a global technology services company focused on supporting broadcast, cable and digital leaders which acquired TIBA Satellite Services S.A.) in their day-to-day corporate business in Argentina.

Intellectual Property
• Assistance to clients ranging from entrepreneurs to multinationals in the process of developing and protecting technology related to apps, particularly software developments, in Argentina and abroad. Our support in this regard has comprised: (i) analysing, structuring and implementing trademark protection schemes for the app’s name, (ii) drafting contracts with consultants, developers, partners or investors and (iv) designing licensing schemes and providing expert aid with the works´ and associated contracts’ registration before the Copyrights Office. Some of our clients to which we have assisted in one or more of these aspects include: Ripio, a local company who offers Blockchain technology- based financial products, Oleiros, who offers technological security and protection solutions, the multination expert on engineering and technology Robert Bosch, Avature Limited, which is a talent acquisition online platform, Whyline Inc., a mobile application and cloud-based software to schedule visits and avoid queuing up, Digirodeo, the livestock solutions developer, the prestigious ITBA university, and the creator of Odisi medical app.
• Counsel regarding Internet Domain names and social media. We have created social media users and registered domain names on behalf of various clients under almost every extension worldwide. We have implemented surveillance and anti-cybercrime schemes for their protection and helped retrieve domains confusingly similar with our clients’ registered trademarks, before both local and international forums. Some relevant cases are: (i) the implementation of a defensive strategy to prevent some of our clients’ chief executives’ impersonations on Twitter, (ii) actions taken before Registrars to suspend or cancel websites that infringed IP rights and (iii) the cancellation of Facebook pages and users either because they infringed our clients’ trademarks, copyrights or because they were used to promote the sale of counterfeit products.
• Counsel on Advertising matters, unfair trade practices and consumer protection issues, with vast experience on reviewing and drafting agreements with advertising agencies, sponsors and influencers, providing a legal insight to the protection and registration of promotional content, including trademarks, logos, jingles, phrases, characters and cartoons, and handling the interaction with the relevant collective management of copyrights and related rights’ organizations (“sociedades de gestion colectiva”) when applicable. Some cases: (i) assignment of IP rights and formal protection of the well-known Menoyo jingle, (ii) legal assistance for the advertisement campaigns related to Ternium’s trademarks “MEJOR EN LATA” and “ACERO PARA HACER” in Latin America, and to Holcim’s “ALTA MEZCLA” trademark.
• Counsel on Transfer of Technology agreements, to which aim we have a team capable of drafting, reviewing and handling their registration process before the local Transfer of Technology Office. Some of the most notable agreements in which we were involved dealt, for instance, with services provided through Artificial Intelligence platforms and by other sophisticated technology providers.
• Assistance to clients from the Entertainment industry in the design of their IP protection strategy and legal actions against infringers. Some cases: (i) nullity action against “GRINCH” and “COMPLEJO GRINCH” trademark registrations, on behalf of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, and (II) the judicial defence of Starz Entertainment’s trademarks used to identify this company’s streaming platform and related services.
